Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel.

Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel.

Shortly after moving from California to Salem, Massachusetts, Max Dennison finds himself in hot water when he accidentally releases a coven of witches, the Sanderson sisters, from the afterlife. Max, his sister, and his new friends have to find a way to stop the witches from carrying out their evil plan and remaining on earth to torment Salem for all eternity. Twenty-five years later, Max and Allison’s seventeen-year-old daughter, Poppy, finds herself face-to-face with the Sanderson sisters in all their sinister glory. When Halloween celebrations don’t quite go as planned, it’s a race against time as Poppy and her friends fight to save her family and all of Salem from the witches’ latest death-defying scheme.

My Thoughts:

I thought long and hard about getting this book about a week or so ago. Mostly because I’m a 90’s baby and Hocus Pocus was my life growing up and watching it for Halloween after going out trick a treating. So, when they came out with this, it felt like I could relive my childhood but I felt like something was going to be wrong with this book. Now, I will say I love part one of the book since it’s the original part of Hocus Pocus that we all grew up and loved as a child. Even though I watched the movie, I still read the first half so I can get that feeling again.

Part two is where we meet Max and Allison’s daughter Poppy and we can all say we knew they would be together and get married since that’s how they were played out to be in the start. LGBT is also apart of this new series of the book and I like that, wished there was slightly more to their story. The Sanderson sisters will always be my favorite but it felt just like it was a rerun of the same story but with a little twist here and there like the original. Still, love Binx but was a little disappointed with how he was written in the book. I think for me, I’ll stick with the original Hocus Pocus.

Rating:
